Finley Asphalt & Concrete recently did a parking lot rehabilitation project for a private business in Fairfax, VA.
The existing parking lot had several drainage issues, including pooling in multiple areas across the lot. The general contractor working on the property knew that parking lot drainage is a critical issue and that a lot that is improperly paved can lead to problems for not only drivers but also pedestrians. The pooling also lead to cracks in the pavement so the lot needed some help. So the GC decided to reach out to a few different paving contractors in the area, in order to figure out the best solution.
We arrived for an estimate that same week and sent in our proposal shortly after meeting with the general contractor. Because of our ability to identify the best possible solution and since we are known as the industry leader within the area, they decided to have us do the job.
We installed a curb and also gutter to help with drainage problems then we installed durable porous asphalt (made of aggregates and asphalt binder) for the water to penetrate through and into an underground drainage system, which eliminates the pooling problem they were previously experiencing.
The customer was thrilled with the new parking lot and how the porous asphalt soaks up moisture!
