The commercial paving crew at Finley Asphalt & Concrete recently completed a commercial paving job at West Point High School in West Point, VA.
The tennis courts at the school were beginning to show signs of damage, including cracking and peeling. The school board was concerned that there might be underlying damage that could lead to a costly repair. They wanted to have it taken care of either way, as tennis is an integral sport at West Point. Plus, the school was planning to host the next state tournament so the sports courts must be in tip-top condition.
We have done paving for the school for years so they knew who to call – plus they know the importance of using specialized paving companies for such projects. Specialized paving equipment is necessary in addition to a crew that is highly experienced in paving large outdoor sports courts.
We looked at the courts and did see cracks that needed to be filled but nothing extreme. We were happy to tell the school board that the courts were candidates for repaving rather than complete replacement, which would help to save the school money.
The tennis courts needed to be repaved while school was out in order to minimize traffic control. We started on a Monday morning and had it finished by end of day Tuesday. We laid down 250 tons of asphalt per day. The school board was pleased with the new courts and felt confident about hosting the upcoming tournament.
